| You are correct it's a monster crop, but its time for you grain farmers to look in a different direction. Before the tariff, the dairy industry was set up to come in line with supply and demand due to higher exports and to hold prices at a profitable $16.50 plus per hundredweight CME through the summer and fall. Since Trump threatened the tariff cheese has dropped from $1.60 per pound to $1.20 in ten trading days. Class III milk has lost over $2.00 with a gut-wrenching fifty cent loss today. Beef, pork, and even eggs have responded likewise. These prices have nothing to do with a monster crop, and everything to do with the Trump tax. In the end the throats to be cut eat a lot of corn and soy meal. | |
