Subject: RE: The Somme then and now

Near-north Ontario, French River
The Canadian Corps lost over 24,000 dead, wounded and missing in action at the Somme. Few outside Canada ( and sadly inside as well) , apart from true historians, understand Canada's contributions to both world world. Because of our small population we just seem to end up being lumped in the "British Army" ( WW I) ,or the "Allies" in WW II. Time and time again we punched way above our weight class , with little to no recognition from the 'super powers'.
