Going by the photo in the other thread, I don't think there was any mesh. Most dozers for open areas won't have that screen protection.

There is always supposed to be an emergency exit plan in any cab if the doors won't open. Not sure how easy it would be to find the glass hammer and break the glass and deal with the water rush while in the dark.

If the cab was already half full of water, it might actually help to do this safely. Get mostly below the water and break the glass if possible.
