Subject: RE: so how is hospice financed?

Before my mother passed away she had hospice. They charged medicare a tremendous amount of money. Had many many people calling at the house for numerous duties- cleaning, nursing, bathing help, minister, counseling. Each visit was couple hundred dollars and they stayed half hour to an hour.

The kicker is they dont tell you is medicare will NOT cover some things they would have NON Hospice. I forgot what that was but hospice didn't cover and neither did medicare. Medicare would have but not under hospice.

She fell and rescue squad took her to hospital. Hospice had to opt out quickly to get her back on Medicare for hospital care.

They were all great people and provided her with somebody to talk to but over all the cost seemed excessive for what they got done, and some funny rules.

KNOW what your getting into, its not all roses and sunshine as they make it sound, they are hard sell to boot.

EDIT-Think one thing was flu shot not covered either way, where it WAS covered under Medicare.
