That mine is roughly 25-30 miles west of me. He was able to maintain contact through whatever type of radio he had in his machine. Very scary situation and is lucky to have made it out. There was water seeping into the cab but the pond water was released quick enough. That river didn't look any different last year when that area received major amounts of rain.
