Middle Tennessee | Okay, this is in-fact market-related, and not best-off in the Boiler Room. The White House is leaning on the two wings of the GOP on Capitol Hill to get all kinds of ambitious stuff accomplished, like, this week. Moderates don't like having to go to bat for the Dreamers, conservatives don't like tying Harvey aid to lifting the debt ceiling, etc. This is exactly how the health-care thing transpired, last-minute gambits unveiled without marshaling any support beforehand, except it seems even worse this time. I'm sure they'll get their debt limit reprieve and disaster assistance, but by that point, the legislators are going to be so alienated, there will be no tax reform. It looks impossible. | |
