The empty soil profile is a thing. That will be big next year. You can't have 1-2" in July, 4-5" will be needed. We had so much moisture in the subsoil for the past 3 years that gravel roads were liquefying and heaving in the spring and winter. That is no more. Dig a post hole and it is dry 5 feet down.
