our harvest is probably delayed 10 to 14 days because of cool weather. That cool weather probably added weight to the ears, right? Throw in less population, those ear weights are in the ballpark.
Possibly we are both suffering from backyarditis? But much corn in our area just gave up in the last several weeks. I think with the excessive wet May-July that we had, it just never rooted down and when Aug turned dry the roots couldn't follow the moisture down fast enough. We have had ears tip on Labor day before and that usually isn't good, many of these tipped down a good two weeks before Labor day. The kernals from these ears are going to be extremely short and small.
