Subject: RE: If August rain makes soybeans

WC Ohio, after a very wet April-July, we couldn't buy a real rain in August. Our last real rain was July 22-23. Since then we have had 1.2" total, and the biggest single rain was 0.4". Since 8/5, we have had 0.5" total.

In July everything here looked rough from being too wet all spring/summer, especially beans. Then as things dried out everything took off and looked promising for a couple weeks. Now everything is giving up early, and it's back to waiting on a crop insurance check. Some late beans and double crop beans could still be helped by a rain, but nothing much in the forecast, and everything else is far enough along that the ship has sailed.
