My guess is that the $992/acre on the 14,000 acres would be second liens on the land. Surely if it was the first lien they would have put the total amount owed against the land instead of only part of it. They probably were prohibited by regulators to put more than this amount against the land. A second lien isn't worth much if you have a big drop in land prices.
