A lot of good advice posted. Just remember the core reason for having a dairy farm besides the dream. It has to provide income to pay for the dairies expenses, provide income for decent life style, retire debt, replace worn out equipment, provide income for health care, and build equity for retirement. Also as others have stated since there are other sibling in the family that some day will demand their fair share of the farm which eventually you might have to pay out. Also be aware the glitter can wear off when you have to work 7 days a week 365 days a year. I have seen it over and over where some great dairy farmers have quit because of the burnout. Like any other business be aware of your competition and if you don't you could be snowed under. I don't like to be a naysayer but these questions have to be answered before you dive in.
