Subject: Rain Guage Evaporation

South Central Iowa
So I didn't dump the rain gauge. It rained Wednesday night. There were 85/100ths in the Guage. Currently there is 70/100ths; so evaporation of 15/100ths, 1/20th of an inch per day. It was sunny and the highs were 84, 88, and 93 the past three days. Currently sunny and 88. It has not been windy.

Would this be an accurate representation of evaporation? Perhaps a little more because it is a clear tube which would heat up more?
