Drought Monitor Game - What Year?

Last year, I was right on the very edge of severe drought zone pictured. It was a disaster. In fact, the severity of the drought wasn't even acknowledge by the government weather people or the USDA until the drought had almost ended and the damage done. The drought map is far too conservative. I was comparing the 7 day and 30 % of normal maps just this morning and I think they reflect more accurately the situation, probably because they are updated daily where as the drought monitor map lags behind.
Below is the 30 day % of normal map. It has become much more like the 7 day map just in the past week with the exception of those areas in Iowa which receive rain the past couple of days.
