SESD Sious Falls | Some differences between last year and this year:
1. We are probably almost 2 weeks behind last year so the crop is getting hit with dryness earlier and it could end up being much worse at the end compared to last year.
2. We had a cold wet spring this year which affected stands and thus yield potential.
3. The dryness last year was mainly in western SD which doesn't have big acres of corn or beans. This year the drought is impacting most of SD, most of ND, and a good portion of Nebraska, along with parts of Iowa , Illinois and Indiana.
4. Part of Ohio was dry last year, but the "big wet" in the east this year has probably hurt as much as the dryness there last year. | |
