I'd always heard that the bigger the plant (factory) the bigger the yield potential. So If you have short plants the same potential might still translate to the same yield but I would think it would be a bit less than if that plant had not had any stress during its growing season. As noted above if its so short it can't intercept the majority of the sunlight then that would be a yield robber I would think. Less sunlight = less yield generally.
