What prevented you from setting a new line? Were the options grayed out/inactive ?
Was the map recording active/engaged? For example, if it is set to paint the screen when the 3pt is down, many options cannot be changed until the function is inactivated, for this example raising the 3pt turns the function off and allows options to be changed.
2600 and "cold" reboot ?
