Maryland | About 15 years ago we planted a few fields for grain and straw. It grows very tall like rye and will make a lot of straw. Because of the bulkiness of the seed we had to open our drill up all the way to get close to the desired lbs per acre. We purchased our seed from an Amish farmer in Lancaster, PA. We ground and mixed into sow and cattle feed.
2 years ago we were going to try a forage speltz but due to high cost for the seed we didn't go that direction and planted a forage wheat instead. | |
