Waterloo, IL | Yes, tire prices should be going up. There is a shortage of butadiene which is the by product of oil. The reason for the shortage is one major facility is down for maintenance. I am a rubber chemist and we are right now spot pricing our synthetic rubber that we are getting in. For the month of April, the price went up 50 percent. They are saying that June will be the peak and then prices should come back down. | |
