NC Ohio | Yes, using my own corn, priced at what I sold for in the fall which was right at $3.15 I believe. Right or wrong that's how I do it. When my corn is gone I will figure what ever I pay to buy more. I use either a Kent or Kalmbach concentrate.
Your mix with corn at $3.15 comes in at $175/ton, corn at $3.50 would be $187, I also feed free choice alfalfa hay so I lower my protein a little on the grain. With ear corn I mix 1850/150 so 26bu of corn @ $3.15 ($82) plus 3 bags ($45) puts me at $127, plus grinding. So my guesses were a touch low after you add whatever you like for grinding. I'm about 10 miles to the closest elevator so I figure its about a wash between hauling it and grinding at home. | |
