My vet and I have discussed the calf vaccination question. He says vaccinating a newborn doesn't do much good as the calf gets its initial immunity from it's dam.  He says to vaccinate them at first workup which for me is about 6-7 weeks after the first calf is born. Vet also says the key to calf health is cow health and having the cow on a good nutrition and mineral program especially during pregnancy.
