Montana | I calve outside. Check em more often depending on the weather. Listen to my gut try not intervene more than necessary. I have a calf warmer, if I think they are chilled and going down hill. Try be observant on calves health. I have corrals for issues. Would like to build a small calving barn someday. I make straw bale wind breaks with bedding on one side. And some calf sheds. Seems the cows never calve there unless it's really cold or snowing any ways. Feed in the draws when it's snowing. I think the blizzards arent as bad here as the plains. Or the wind. I'm pretty close to the mountains. I dunno if your questions were directed at me or jfqc. Things done differently than me in eastern MT I'm sure. | |
