Driftless SW Wisconsin

Jordan3215 - 3/11/2017 12:57... There is a place near us that sells those Petersons, what is the difference between those and a Ritchie?

Huge differences between a Petersen and a Ritchie.   Petersens are concrete over rebar frame and insulated, are very heavy.  Ritchies are plastic or a metal/plastic combination.  Heating elements are very different on the models I am familiar with.  I suggest you take a look at each of them. Waterer installation is something you want to do once and do it right the first time.

I use a couple plastic Lil Spring 3100 waterers on temporary pastures. They are lighter, cheaper and easier to install but nowhere near the quality and durability of a Petersen or Bohlmann. The heating element is much more durable in the two concrete waterers. In W NE in Feb you are going to need some heat, someimes in March too. We are going down to single digits F tonight here.
