They are built heavy and will take some abuse.Check to make sure hex shafts are not twisted causing it to run out of time.Check for play in all the units.2002 prly would not have the quick change blades but can be converted to it with new turtles.The older blade holders sucked and are spendy to replace.Ive owned 6 -1030's and been well satisfied with them.
