Atlantic, Iowa | My experience has been nothing but positive. Have one full-blooded. Others are all half or more. Running them on very Angus cows. Using as mostly terminal sires. Our cut sheets are way better than when we were predominantly Angus on Angus. Cattle are more efficient too. No neck leather to speak of.
My dad had the same attitude as you redrobin, until the first calf crop came. He doesn't bitch anymore. We've found the bulls to be a lot more sound than a lot of American Simmentals. I'm not a big fan of a lot of the popular Simmentals.
I source mine from RL Limerock at Brandon, Iowa. Full disclosure it's also my father in law. He's sold out last I knew. He gets genetics from Canada, Buzzard Hollow in Texas and I'm sure other places.
My father in law has also found calves for us from his customers. Feed like a house on fire. No leather either.
