| Try to be out every couple hours here during spring calving. Haven't pulled a calf for size since I've been checking. Usually it's a leg back, backwards, twins, or in a sack that I assist with. Last year saved 10 lost 3 that I assisted according to the book. 1 set of twins that the first was backwards and one in the sack I was about a minute too late(heart beating still but brain dead). Luck and timing have a lot to do with saving calves when checking every few hours. As for a storm, if it's 15-20F or colder with snow or wind I'll check every hour until it warms up. Usually storms pass through relatively quickly in late march and beyond so not too bad usually. | |
