Most calves like that gain 0 the first 30 days. That's why most people want 45 days to start a calf so the COG doesn't look so bad. Keeping them green (or getting them green) drives up the COG even more. Starting cattle is an expensive business, but one of the most important aspects of the cattle feeding industry.
