| We burn our long leaf stands every couple years. It is the best thing for them.
Unfortunately, I had an escape into some 12 year old slash this year due to wind shifts and it caught me and a tractor. Tractor burnt completely up and my face got burned pretty bad.
Called forestry in to put out escape and they got two dozers stuck in the process. Finally got dozers and fire out without getting onto other property.
Long story short - tractors burn pretty quick, a face can burn quickly but can heal quickly, and I have a whole new respect for fire.
But, I still love to burn timber and pastures. It does wonders for both. | |
