If there's any moisture in your soils, they smear the bottom of the furrow very badly.  The last thing you want is something dragging in the soil below the blades! 

 Kinda like a Keeton and Mojo wires

Totally different.  You want the seed thoroughly embedded in the bottom of the furrow, which requires either a Keeton + Mojo, or a seed-lock wheel.  You do not want any smearing ahead of this process, as it only makes it more challenging, and is compaction where you don't want it.
