East Central Kansas
a lot of company support and owner loyalty. I had two uncles who each bought some of the first 3010's. I remember looking at their tractors several months after purchase. There was more wear at the chain down areas than there was on the drawbar. I also remember walking through the new dealership shop in Manhattan KS and seeing bay after bay of 10 series tractors being worked on in 60 or 61. DEERE survived because of customer support during to 10 series launch. By the time Dad bought his 1963 3010, the problems solved, lesson: don't buy the FIRST production year of an entirely redesigned series, there will likely be "birthing" problems. Witness the first years' production of the JD4430, the 8630, the 9X00, and the 9X50 series combines.
