Heard a story where a guy was in situation where cattle were being chased. So he confronted the dog owner that his cattle were being chased and dog owner.
Farmer-" Your dog is chasing my cattle"
Dog Owner - " My dog doesn't go over there"
-Not sure on the exchange from then if threat was made to dog's life or not, but nonetheless, a few weeks later the dog DISAPPEARED.
Dog Owner- "Did you shoot my dog?"
Farmer - "You said your dog doesn't come over here"
