With big crops the board doesnt want your grain today. They want u to store it and deliver it at a later date. So they have to pay you to store it. Look at years where we had short crops...2012...they want to own your grain right off the combine.
Same goes on soys. The past couple years they want your beans now because china wants them today not in 8 months
