Our tradition when the kids still lived at home and we lived on the farm (moved 15 years ago). We had a wood burning stove in the basement and on Christmas Eve Dave would make sure there was a huge load of wood ready to be thrown down to the basement and stacked. The kids always knew it had to be done before they could open up gifts.
