Archbold, Ohio | This year we ran a starter fertilizer plot to see if 10-34-0 really has any benefit in corn yield response. Our traditional program had been applying 10 gallons of 10-34-0 and 10 gallons of 28-0-0 per acre 2x2. We ran strips with our full rate of 10-34-0, half rate, and no 10-34-0. We adjusted our 28-0-0 to keep our lbs of N the same, and added water to keep our planter applying 20 gallons an acre. I have attached the results, and while all the results are statistically insignificant, no 10-34-0 won the plot. If this result is validated over our next several years with this plot, this could save farmers $20 plus.
EDIT: I forgot to mention P levels on this field our just above the high end of the maintenance level of the Tri-State Recommendations.
