 I don't know if this is fair comparison, but looking at the picture the mound to the left represents tillage done by a pocket gopher, while the soil to the right represents soil not disturbed by tillage. You can see the soil in the mound is more graunular in structure, while the soil to right is more  aggregated in structure.
