Subject: Oats Cover Crop in Soybeans

North Central Illinois
I started cutting my organic soybeans that I put in on June 30 after taking of oats as baleage. I was concerned about the volunteer oats that were emerging after the last cultivation. See this thread http://talk.newagtalk.com/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=649693&posts=6...

The beans canopied quickly and kept the oats from growing much at all. Now they are putting on a bit of growth. I couldn't have planned it better if I tried. I might succeed in having every acre green at in mid November this year! Full season beans had wheat put in after harvest and I just finished drilling triticale on the last of the corn ground.
