Thats what I did. The tank was very rusty under the data plate, and it had come loose. Sand blasted the tank, and spread a thick coat of JB weld where the data plate went. I then pressed the data plate into the JB Weld, just like placing tile in grout. Looks very nice, and has held for years. Takes a couple of blister packs of JB Weld.
