If you google "FLERD" yes flerd you should find some info about running sheep and goats with cattle. Since most goats prefer browse I have heard that it does not affect stocking density. Basically they are eating 2 different things. There has been some research into goats being used as effective woodland, brush, weed control in many different parts of the country.
I would start with 3 per cow and see how it goes depending on available feed. Also I would introduce a few Next to the cattle at first just to gauge their reaction and let them get used to each other. Goats on pasture will most likely need dewormed routinely so keep that in mind. To get them to Clean UP an area rather than pick and choose want they want might have to confine them and rotate.
If the goats and cattle bond the goats will seek out the cattle herd for safety.
