Rivers, MB | I'm attaching the canola crop insurance data for 2011-2015 for MB.
We are big Bayer Invigor fans. The Liberty works great in our rotation.
L252. Stands great and very good yielded. Most popular variety in MB last 2 years. Not well suited for straight cutting as it well she'll out easily if left standing.
L261. Yields very good but doesn't stand as well as L252 as its a very large plant. Swathing can be a challenge
L140P. Pod shatter variety well suited for straight cutting. Tends to not stand well in high N rate scenarios. Yields about 1-2 bu/ac less than L252 in Bayer's trials and in our trials. Likes to have lower plant population. Doesn't like to be crowded.
Dekalb's 74-44 really impressed me two years ago when we grew it. Wouldn't hesitate to grow it if I wanted a RR variety.
Prepare for sticker shock. Significant price increase this year.
Lumiderm not necessary IMO unless you have a cutworms issue/concern.
