I have been looking at % of yield by physiological maturity on corn. They are saying 50% of the yield is in the plant at dent stage. They call that the rapid growth stage from pollination to dent. You need good conditions to get that best fill at that stage. another rule of thumb is 10% left to fill at 1/2 milk line.
