Ohio
In our heavy clay soils neither. But if I have to choose i would say the 1990. We have both in a 40' and the 1790 is so heavy in the center. We had serious compaction issues planting with it. Plants perfect beans. It gets them in the ground nice and consistent but so heavy on the main frame. The 1990 isn't near as heavy or at least the weight is distributed a little better. It's hard to hold consistent depth with them and the seed spacing isn't the greatest but they still plant nice soybeans. Our beat beans we've ever raised is with the 1990 drill. We just bought a 1780 this year for beans and liked it pretty good. I would like a baur frame with individual boxes instead of central fill but those are still out of our price range.
