We freeze some on the ear every year to have roasting ears in the winter. We just leave the shucks and silks on stick it in a ziplock bag and freeze it. IMO it is really good this way. It does take up a lot more room is the worst part. I think leaving the shucks on is the key. I just throw them on the grill in the shucks like I do fresh corn.
