Absolutely! When we sedate cattle, we treat early in the morning or late in the evening to avoid the heat and direct sunlight. Again, our cattle are usually pretty calm and we can usually get them close to or in some shade before we dart them. It doesn't always go as planned but so far so good for us...

Not sure if shade is available or if predators are an issue in your area but just another challenge to consider when sedating.

If possible, I'd still rather get cattle in a chute to make sure they are treated as intended but sometimes I've found that it's just not a timely, economical, practical or realistic option.
