just a tish NE of central ND | Wife picked up a ornimentl rain guage somewhere and it is made with a regular ruler scale to measure the water ina tube. But the top of the tube is a BELL so if it rains a inch it collects way more water than the measuring tube is calibrated at.That bell part is what kleeps the tube from falling through the holder. Another ornimental one we have the tube is agains a tall flat surface so anything that runs down the face of the board funnels into the tube.....dumb dumb dumb.....

Since when did a rainguage get too complicated for a manufacturer figure out how it works?
