Does the 1500 have a status light lit up when you swap the cables?
The display cables have a 4 pin square weatherpack plug. There is a relay that connects here. That relay is necessary to provide power to CANbus modules and GPS. If it is absent, that will prevent the GPS receiver from receiving power.
