Subject: RE: 14 year old farm drivers license in Michigan

Michigan - Saginaw County
I had the 14 year old farm license to drive. This would have been early 50's. Common back then.
This was a different era and a different society. Children worked on the farm so we had food to eat. I knew if I damaged the car/truck dad did not have the money to repair it. Spring and fall I took some days off school for farm work. Simply letting the principal know before I skipped kept me from being punished. I did not get to play sports in HS because I had to be home for milking as soon as school let out for the day.
I have to tell you I do not recognize this country any more. It has vastly changed and not for the better.
