Little of both. Holes get clay. Then like to pack a couple inches of manure pack over the clay. Mounds are clay. The mounds run parallel to the concrete apron....more like a half mound with the rest of the pens sloping to the settling basins. Highest parts of pens are the bunks, waterers and aprons.
Made it to the deep end of the pool.
