Subject: RE: all about center pivots

Columbia Basin, Ephrata, WA
We farm in a desert, so our ground does not produce anything without irrigation. Pivots are expensive, but still the best way to get the job done here.

We will start irrigating in April and won't be completely finished until October. We will apply anywhere from 4-7x the amount of water that we get from rainfall. Most pivots can apply .4" per day and will run continuously during the hottest and driest part of the summer.

Pivot tracks are a necessary evil, you deal with them however necessary. Same with working around them for other field operations, you just do what has to be done. All methods of irrigation have their drawbacks.
