We've run caseih since 98. Had a 95 2166 bought used and we ran it to 5000 something hours. As far as gear boxes, we never had a single problem with any. That combine only ever left us down in the field a few times, and never any thing major. A bearing failure on the feeder house was I think the worst, a couple hours to fix.

If a guy doesn't want to run an older machine, you don't have much choice but to go new or almost new and pay the price, or hire it done.
