I ran several different breeds side-by-side on my jd1890 drill. The oem wheels tend to do a lot of bouncing. Spiked closing wheels that were heavy like the oem wheels and tend to also bounce like them. Curved wheels tended to dig too deep and move the seed around. The best I found were Thompson wheels from Exacta. They were the lightest built by far BUT they did the best job of running smooth in my dirt. This is in no-till planting in covercrops at 7-8 mph.
