Hi-

I got my Dad an 18v Worx Ni-cad a good number of years ago now. It was before the L-ion batteries were widely available. It has been a decent whacker. Battery run time was the biggest downfall but it suited his needs well.

Since then, due to my being gone to the field at key times, I got Vicki (at her request) a B&D 18v L-ion trimmer. Good power and good battery run time. It runs long enough to where she needs a little break too. The B&D also came with a little leaf blower that she loves to blast off the patio and dog pen with.

These two are my only experiences but I would give them both good marks.

Like you, I give everything I can a chemical trim, lol
